I have gotten a lot of work done this week. I’m getting used to my new schedule at work, not so tired all the time.

Genealogical serendipity struck this past week, when my cousin Susan alerted me to the availability of some original Hill County, Texas marriage documents. I am very fortunate to be receiving the marriage records of 3 couples, including one that proves the second marriage of my 3GGM Susan William Lee Martin. Sweet!

Along with other indexing I’ve been doing (Texas records), I also completed indexing both of the simulated 1940 U S Census pages. This year’s version of the Federal Census has some interesting twists:)

  • INDEX, INDEX, INDEX!!!

A busy genealogy week for me! Did a lot on indexing of the Texas Deaths, 1890-1976 collection and also indexed the simulated 1940 U S Census. The latter was most interesting, as a lot of new questions were asked on this census.

Also, it’s fixin’ to be Happy Dance Time! I have created a list of my Hill County, Texas marriage licenses (10 couples so far), and I hope to get down to Hillsboro (120-mile round trip) one day next week to see what I can find. I’ll be happy to get only 2-3 licenses out of that batch, all 10 would be a Happy Dance Marathon!

Not so much research as my schedule at work has changed. I work overnight now, so I’m still trying to get my sleep schedule figured out. I did become a FamilySearch indexer volunteer for the 1940 U S Census. A lot of fun! I’m working on Texas Death Certificates right now, until April 2nd, when the Census is available to index.
