Charles Hamilton was my third great Grand-uncle.
Interestingly, Charles Hamilton’s newer headstone above actually contains the names of several Hamiltons: John (father), Lavina (mother), Thomas (brother) and Charles.

My 4GGF John Hamilton, Jr’s headstone (actually two headstones) indicates his date of death to be 24 July 1860 (click on images to enlarge):
Just one problem with that date…
The 1860 Federal Census for Travis County, Texas, shows John, apparently alive, enumerated on 26 July 1860.
