Notes from the past…

52 Weeks of Abundant Genealogy Week #46: Large Genealogy Vendors

52-Weeks-AbundantWhich big genealogy vendor is your favorite one to see at conferences? What does this vendor offer the genealogy community? Why do you like visiting this vendor in the exhibit hall?

Having never been to an actual genealogy conference, I really can’t answer this in the here and now

But, someday when I do finally make it to a genealogy conference… which big vendor would I like to see?

My first choice would definitely be RootsMagic and the folks who make it such a wonderful (the best!) genealogy program. I am immensely impressed when I see RootsMagic’s creator and big boss Bruce Buzbee personally answering questions about this program on Facebook and on the various RootsMagic user groups and message boards. How often do you see the head honcho of a successful corporation actually reaching out to us everyday folk?

I’d also like to see the Evernote reps at my next conference. I’ve recently started using Evernote as my research notebook, so who better to learn from than the experts?

52 Weeks of Abundant Genealogy by Amy Coffin is a series of weekly blogging prompts (one for each week of 2012) that invite genealogists and others to discuss resources in the genealogy community including websites, applications, libraries, archives, genealogical societies and more. You do not have to be a blogger to participate. If you do not have a genealogy blog, write down your thoughts on your computer, or simply record them on paper and keep them with your files.
