34: Questions on the 1940 Census. An additional 16 were asked of 5 percent of the population.
10: Questions on 2010 Census

132.2 million: 1940 U.S. population
308 million: 2010 U.S. population

120,000: Census enumerators in 1940
Nearly 1 million: Census field operators in 2010

5.1 million: Number of farmers in 1940
613,000: Number of farmers and ranchers in 2010

$67.5 million: Cost of the 1940 Census
$12.4 billion: Cost of the 2010 Census
