If you follow this blog, then you will know that I am a big fan of RootsMagic. I have tried just about every genealogy database software program, and RootsMagic is by far the most user-friendly, useful and, yes, fun, program of them all! It can create just about any report or chart that I have needed, manages image and sources without difficulty and is frequently updated. and it comes complete with numerous “sub-programs” (to-do list, research log, several data calculators, just to name a few). In short, it simply manages all of my genealogy research data.
RootsMagic is capable of so much… how can one possibly learn how to use all of its features, you say?
Well, there’s the official RootsMagic 5 manual. But to really learn the nitty-gritty of this wonderful program?
How about free, online classes or webinars?
Currently, there are 6 upcoming RootsMagic 5 Webinars, and 30 more past webinars are available to watch or download. Older webinars are also available on CD (10 webinars/disc, $9.95 each)
These webinars usually last a little over an hour, are very informative and discuss in depth every aspect of RootsMagic.
View them live or at your regularly-scheduled 3 AM research pajama party!
52 Weeks of Abundant Genealogy by Amy Coffin is a series of weekly blogging prompts (one for each week of 2012) that invite genealogists and others to discuss resources in the genealogy community including websites, applications, libraries, archives, genealogical societies and more. You do not have to be a blogger to participate. If you do not have a genealogy blog, write down your thoughts on your computer, or simply record them on paper and keep them with your files.
