I have spent the whole week on my 2GGU Dr Thomas Joshua Bennett. A prominent Texas physician of the late 1800′s-early 1900′s with a lot of “media” coverage to catalog. Media in those days meant newspaper and journals (known as magazines today), but thanks to GenealogyBank and Google Books, I have located and downloaded over 30 articles about him, as well as an excellent photograph of the Good Doctor! Seems he had another interest that also frequently landed his name in the local newspapers: automobile buff. Not only did he create a local automobile club in Austin, Texas and serve as its president, but he was also seriously injured in at least two auto accidents, and was the driver in a fatal hit-and-run! No airbags or anti-lock brakes in 1904!

My weekly database back-up had been completed for this past week, and I added 3GGF James F Carr and 2GGM Margaret C Brown to my research wiki.

I updated a few headstones at Chatt-Jessie Cemetery, then got distracted… ;)

Plans for next week:

  4. Charles Andrew Bennett

  • Update both my Freepages site and WorldConnect database and email a RootsMagic backup to my Gmail account
  • Add 2 direct-line ancestors to my research wiki
  • Keep working on the headstone photos at Chatt-Jessie Cemetery
