I have been busy for the past few days, revamping this website. A new theme, new plugins, several new pages, a lot of behind-the-scenes adjustments. One thing that I have been unable to change has been the state of my RSS feed.
I use WordPress and absolutely love it for its versatility! I know just enough about HTML, CSS and managing a website to get myself into trouble, and yet, with WordPress I usually manage to keep my head above water. When I run into a problem, I can usually eventually find an answer. The Internet is full of helpful sites and helpful people! (Thanks, Denise!)
So I have been searching for several days for a cure for my RSS woes. I have set my WordPress site to show the full text of my posts, but I still see only a summary.
I believe I have found an answer. It turns out that Mozilla Firefox, the web browser that I use and adore, automatically cuts off an RSS feed. I opened up Google Chrome and checked my feed, and there were my posts, in full text!
I see no way to change the settings of Firefox to show the full feed. So what are my options?
- Accept the feed the way it is- not what I wanna do…
- Switch to Google Chrome as my web browser- Chrome seems to be pretty good, but I’m really stuck on Firefox! I have it set up exactly how I want it and don’t want to change
- Try to find a Firefox add-on that will force a full-text feed
The last option seems to be the best, so that will be my plan.
I’ll let you know…
Oops, that’s “some” quality time. See why I need to be able to see my full feeds!
Hi Thomas & Debbie,
Thanks for stopping by and for your input. Maybe Firefox just cuts off MY feeds, ‘cuz I usually see everyone else’s feeds, unless they intentionally cut them off themselves, like “read more” or something like that.
Still kinda annoying to me. I want to see what my full feeds look like, to see if there are any typos or other silly mistakes that I missed.
Thomas, I have used Chrome a couple of times, specifically when Footnote came out with their new viewer and Firefox would not load it at first. Now it works fine. I liked Chrome, just not used to it. But with your endorsement, I may just spend soon quality time with it…
Have a great day!
Ruth
I read your blog in Google Reader using Firefox and I always see all of your posts.

I love love love Google Chrome! I have used it since Day One and it is fast and integrates with so many Google features. I highly recommend it!
