Ruth's Genealogy

“And in the end, it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years.”

A few fond memories of the family get-togethers for Christmas and especially the gifts…

A couple of items come to mind: a doll as tall as I was and a portable record-player (OMG! How old am I ?!).

But what are really my favorite memories concern not specific gifts, but the process:

  • My aunt Kathy absolutely delighted in wrapping the best gifts herself. Why? She would use an entire roll of tape on a single package, making it almost impossible to open the gift!
  • My Uncle Dick,  having the baldest head in the family, would usually end up with way too many bows on his dome!
  • After all the gift-opening was finished, my grandmother and aunts would make the rounds through Nanny’s huge living room and gather up all the bows to be saved and re-used the next year.
