Not trying to get an extra paycheck here, but my hosting company, DreamHost is super-duper!
I have not had many problems, but the few that I have had are because my own lack of knowledge. I can keep my head above water when working with my own site, but just barely. I can usually figure out what the problem is, sorta, and might even have an idea on how to fix it, but the fine points, the actual nitty-gritty, well that’s outa my league.
So when something comes up that I can’t figure out, I send in a support request to the guys at DreamHost and almost immediately get a reply. The replies have never taken more than a day to be answered and usually within 2-3 hours. And these replies, instructions and suggestions are written in plain English, not Geek-Speak.
Earlier today, I posted about a problem I was having with an image gallery program that I was trying to get going on my site. Late last night (maybe early this morning, kinda lose track of time when “computing”), I sent in a support request and then went to bed.
First thing this morning there was a reply to my request and the problem was already fixed. Just that fast! The folks that handle these issues are very open and friendly and not at all condescending. They just go in and fix the problem and set you on your way!
