Notes from the past…

A little more about Mom's violin

A few days ago, I posted about my Mom’s violin. I promised to try to find out about “the story” behind this beautiful instrument.

This past Saturday, my family gathered together at the nursing home where my grandmother lives to help her celebrate her 93rd birthday. Cake and hugs and gifts all around! Nanny looks great and really enjoyed seeing all the great and great-great grandkids.

After we were all gorged on goodies, I finally got a chance to ask my grandmother ad my aunt about the violin. My aunt said she thought the violin originally belonged to my second great-grandfather, Miles Francis Stanley, and Nanny agreed. Wow, this is really exciting! That makes the violin at least 75 years old (my second great-grandfather died in 1935) and probably well over 100 years old! Awesome!
