Notes from the past…

Another piece of the puzzle!

I was wandering around Footnote and decided to check the Texas Death Records database. I check it every few weeks, looking for new additions.

Guess who I found? My 3rd great-grandmother Susan William Lee Martin’s 1918 death certificate!

Kennedy, S W L

Oops, just found my great-grandfather John T Stanley’s death certificate, too!

If anyone has relatives who died in Texas 1890-1976, check out Footnote! There has been a big bunch of certificates added!

P. S. I’ve found 9 new death certificates this afternoon! Definitely check out Texas Death Records!

  2. Thanks for letting me know that there is a difference between the two sites. I did find a series of death certificates that were missing on the FamilySearch site. I could tell because I couldn’t find any certificates in a particular county for a particular year. I sent them an email and they wrote back that they were aware of the problem. I have discovered how to flip through a county’s death certificates for a certain month and year, so if I can’t find what I’m looking for, I browse.

  3. Hi, Debbie!

    Thanks for stopping by!

Yeah, I know, but some of the ones on Footnote are not on the FamilSearch site and some of the ones on the FamilySearch site are not on Footnote. Not sure why, but I keep checking both. I have another infant that I’m looking for who is on the Texas Death index but I can’t find her in the actual Texas Deaths 1890-1976. Probably like the census, the indexer couldn’t read the writing or made a mistake while transcribing. Those that I found today where not on either site a few months ago.

    So I keep checking… :)

  4. Ruth, do you know that all of these TX death certificates are already on the FamilySearch pilot site?
